The Friends of Washington Oaks offers a free ranger-led Butterfly Walk on Friday, May 25, 2018, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Park Ranger Joe leads this interpretive hike that highlights the most common species of butterflies are found at Washington Oaks Gardens State Park. Guests are encouraged to bring water and wear comfortable walking shoes.
On Saturday, May 219, 2018, the “5 for the 50 5K Run/Walk” will be held at the University of St. Augustine. This special race will serve as a fundraiser for the American Autoimmune Related Diseases Association (AARDA) and the Lupus Foundation of America in support of the 50 million Americans living with autoimmune diseases. All ages are welcome to participate in this race, and awards will be given for the top male and female racers in 15 age categories.
My love for fitness and helping others to achieve a healthy lifestyle continues to grow each year. After having my son Taylor in 2013, I knew I wanted to offer a class that moms could attend and bring their sweet babies. As a new mom, I knew how hard it was to get my workout in some days, and knew this would be the answer for so many moms who wanted to workout but needed some guidance, camaraderie and didn’t have anyone to watch their baby. Thus, Fit Mama’s was born!
What does a typical work out include? A typical class consists of a warm up, cardio, strength training, core work, stretching and fun!
Join us for the 2018 Kids Triathlon on April 15, at 8 a.m. at the Solomon Calhoun Center! Children ages 5-14 can join in the fun and JUST TRI IT! This is a non-competitive event giving everyone the chance to participate in a Triathlon. The first 150 children to pick up their race packets will get a Just Tri It! tee shirt and every child that completes the race will get a medal for their accomplishment!
This is K9s United’s third annual run and this year we wanted to make it even more special. That is why we are introducing our first ever 9k into our running series. That’s right, this year you can select to run in the 1 mile fun run, the classic 5k, or the extreme 9k. Get active with Miss Akilah at our popular fitness and yoga fusion class! Get your heart rate up with some fun fitness and then cool it down with yoga. This program is for beginners and fun for the whole family. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring your own towel or mat. Caregivers must be present at the time of the class to sign a waiver.
The Spud Run Half Marathon, 5K and Cabbage Crawl will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018, in Hastings, Florida. This annual race consists of a 10K and 5K course, as well as a one-mile kids fun run. The Half Marathon and the 5K are both USATF-certified courses, and the races are professionally timed and scored by RaceSmith, Inc.

Washington Oaks Gardens State Park hosts four sessions of Yoga in the Gardens on Mondays in the month of March 2018. Instructor Jennifer Tomczak leads the classes from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. on March 5, 12, 19, and 26, 2018.
Yoga in the Gardens is an all-level yoga class that includes meditation, breathing exercises, and gentle movement. Washington Oaks Gardens provides the peaceful environment and the special connection to nature.
