SAMB Top 10!

Infertility Awareness Week

“It’s Infertility Awareness Week, and it feels unfair of me to even write this article. I feel guilty because I’m one of the lucky ones. Each word I write stings …  because I know.”

Car Line

“If you’ve made it to preschool or beyond, you will know that there are some interesting dynamics at play in the car line. We are still at the preschool level, but I’ve heard from some veterans that the stakes are higher once you leave the sheltered confines of preschool.”

Firstborn note

“To my first born, These last few days have been tough. Not only for you but for me also. This week we welcomed your new sibling into the world and although there is much joy, there is also sadness. You see, I hadn’t anticipated this sadness.”

Unmedicated birth

“When a friend tells you she is working on changing her eating habits you probably wouldn’t respond with “Oh wow – why on earth would you ever want to do that?! Give it a few weeks; you’ll be back to polishing off the dessert tray and downing cheeseburgers in no time!” Instead, you would hope she succeeds in her mission.”

Life Hacks

“Life is challenging. Here are real-life hacks I use in order to keep my sanity as a mom of four. You can read this list two ways. One, read just the headings. These are real things that I do to keep our house under control. Or, two, read the descriptions. These explanations may have come from the edge of sanity.”

What I didn't know about getting an epidural feature

“There’s a ton of debate and controversy when it comes to having a medicated labor and delivery. According to Fit Pregnancy, more than 60% of all women have an epidural when giving birth. When I became pregnant with my first daughter, the pain of labor scared me. I knew I wanted some sort of pain management.”

The Grinch Who Almost Stole Christmas Feature

“St. Augustine, FL–a quaint tourist town who often charts the tops of lists for its spectacular display lights during the holidays–woke up to terrible news on November 6th. The St. Augustine Record broke the news that the annual Christmas parade had been canceled.”

“As a military spouse of around 12 years, I certainly do not consider myself a veteran. But I have been around the block a time or two. This month, we honor our military spouses, and I am forever grateful for the civilian support that many of you provide to each and every one of us.”
