Creative Activities for Kids — Art, Science, Theatre, and FUN!

As a mom in St. Augustine for more than 14 years, I love finding new ways to keep my three children LEARNING while having fun! Recently, I’ve come across painting classes at the newly-opened Collaborative District, and hands-on arts and science workshops at tag! Children’s Museum of St. Augustine. Our tried-and-true family activity is seeing shows at Limelight Theatre, a treat for all ages. We also love the theater productions at St. Augustine High School and Murray Middle School (both art schools here in St. Johns County). There are some great musicals coming up this spring and summer. Check out the list below!

Art Class paints

Art and painting classes for kids are taught by Wendy Berthiaume every Saturday from 2 to 3:20 p.m. at the Collaborative District, 150 Riberia St., on the right past the St. Augustine Distillery and the Crave Food Truck site. My 6-year-old recently attended a Heather Brown-inspired painting class and came home with a colorful piece of art for her wall, complete with a palm tree, plants, and water in jewel tones. The Collaborative District features art, jewelry, handcrafted furniture and other items by local artisans.

Tag! Children’s Museum of St. Augustine is offering all sorts of arts and science classes for children. My 6-year-old and I attended a sewing and weaving class recently and learned so much, plus had fun! Bonus: We proudly brought home cute little heart pillows that we sewed ourselves (with a little help)! Here’s the schedule:
