Out of all these pretend holidays that keep popping up, this by far is my favorite and I will officially be celebrating this year. Galentine’s Day. No, I didn’t say Valentines, and no it doesn’t occur on February 14th. Galentine’s Day is a day dedicated to your female friends, your mom tribe, your besties, all of your girlfriends and it’s celebrated on February 13th. Take this day to shower all your girlfriends with love, treats, and attention.
If you’re a Parks and Rec fan, then you probably can recall the episode called “Galentine’s Day,” where Leslie takes her closest girlfriends for a brunch of waffles with a whole lotta love involved. “Ladies celebrating ladies,” Leslie says in the episode. And that’s exactly what we should be doing. It’s so easy to get caught up in our role as a mother, that it can be easy to forget about the friendships formed with our girlfriends. Take time to appreciate the people that pull you back in when you’re on that hot mess motherhood train. Galentine’s Day can be celebrated so many different ways and can be as stress-free as you want it.
Go love on those girlfriends, you wouldn’t be surviving motherhood without them. And as Leslie Knope says in Parks and Rec, “Ovaries before Brovaries.”
