The studio is beautiful, clean, and offers everything you could need at a fitness facility. In the lobby, you’ll find fresh lemon water, healthy snacks, and lots of cute workout clothes and accessories to browse through.
A walk down the hallway will make you feel like you’re at a fancy spa.
Here is the pretty locker room to keep things tucked away while you are working out.
The Bar Method St. Augustine offers child care Monday through Friday mornings. We all know as moms that lack of child care is a huge barrier to our fitness journey. The sitter was warm and friendly, and the room was equipped with toys, books, and a television if requested.
Gayle and Kaitlin are a mother-daughter duo. Gayle, the owner, has a life-long passion for fitness and fell in love with The Bar Method after taking a class a few years ago. Her daughter Kaitlin is the studio manager and comes from a background in dance. They are both very helpful and willing to assist with any concerns you may have about injuries or about how you can improve further in your technique. Technique is key at The Bar Method, and Gayle and Kaitlin will utilize their training to make sure that you are in the right position to avoid injury and maximize your results. How cute are they?!
This workout is way harder than I thought it would be. I have been lifting weights and practicing yoga for a few years now, and this still offered me a huge challenge.
The class starts out with a warm-up that includes weights. You can vary your weights based on your fitness level so you always have a new challenge. Pretty much all the movements are tiny, but still my arm muscles were feeling the burn.
The bar is next, and this was the hardest part for me. Getting the form right was tricky and then staying in the position was so hard! I can tell that keeping with this would seriously work your legs and “seat” as they call it at The Bar Method. There is also some stretching at the bar which I really enjoyed–especially after finishing the one of the toughest parts of the workout.
Next, we moved on to ab work. There is some ab work that is done at the bar and some on the mat. I continued practicing yoga during the two weeks, and I really noticed an improvement in my stability in my headstand and forearm stand which require core strength. It’s amazing that just a couple of weeks of doing The Bar Method I noticed such an improvement. There is also a fun part of the class at the end called “back dancing” that works your seat to the rhythm of the music. I really enjoyed all the music that they played throughout the class. The music ebbed and flowed along with the movements we were doing which kept it fun.
All the women I met here were fabulous. They give it their all each class, and it shows. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, supportive, and happy to help me out as the newbie.
